Frequently Asked Questions — Katrine Moite Photo Studio
What Should I Bring to My Maternity Photoshoot?
For your maternity photoshoot, we recommend bringing:
A strapless bra in both beige/nude and black tones
Small panties or thongs in beige/nude and black tones — the smaller and more seamless they are, the better for maternity gowns, fabrics, silhouettes, and artistic posing
Shoes, if you would like specific footwear included in your photos
Everything else is already available in the studio wardrobe. Our Manhattan maternity photography studio offers access to 100+ carefully curated wardrobe options, including gowns, fabrics, bodysuits, silks, and accessories.
You are also very welcome to bring your own outfits if there is something personal or special you would love to include in your session.
For partners and children:
While we do have some wardrobe options available, our studio wardrobe is primarily focused on maternity styling. To be safe, we recommend bringing:
Black elegant clothing (suits or classy black outfits)
Casual black attire (black jeans, fitted t-shirt, cardigan)
Beige, earthy, neutral-toned outfits in natural fabrics
Classic blue jeans with a white t-shirt or white button-up shirt
Neutral and timeless outfits always photograph beautifully and help create an elegant editorial look.
What Manicure and Pedicure Colors Work Best for a Maternity Photoshoot?
We recommend:
Neutral nude tones
French manicure
Classic red nails
Soft beige or milky white tones
If you want something more playful or gender-inspired, soft pink or blue tones can also look beautiful.
In general, timeless and elegant nail colors work best for luxury maternity photography and help keep the focus on you and your emotions.
Can I Send Inspiration Photos Before the Shoot?
Absolutely — inspiration photos are always welcome.
We encourage clients to send references ahead of time, ideally before the contract is signed, so we can make sure your vision aligns with the style and possibilities of the studio.
If your inspiration images are already from Katrine Moite’s portfolio or are in a similar artistic style, there is usually no need for additional approval.
Family & Guests
Can My Partner Join the Photoshoot?
Absolutely. Partners are always welcome.
All maternity photography packages include your +1. Your partner is an important part of this journey, whether they participate in the session itself or simply come to support you during the experience.
Our luxury Manhattan studio was designed to feel welcoming and comfortable for both clients and their loved ones.
Can Children Attend the Photoshoot?
Yes — children are very welcome at the studio.
Each package includes a different number of people:
Basic Package (1 hour) — includes 1 additional person (partner or child)
Regular / Combo Package (1.5 hours) — includes up to 2 additional people
Full and Exclusive Packages — include unlimited family members
If your package has a guest limit, additional people can be added for $50 per extra person.
Studio & Parking
Is There Parking Near the Studio?
Yes. Convenient parking is available at Emerald Green Garage, located on the same block as the studio.
If parking availability is limited, we also recommend using:
SpotHero
SpotAngel
These apps can help you find affordable parking options near our Midtown Manhattan photography studio.
Can I Request Hollywood Waves or Hair Extensions?
Yes — Hollywood waves and hairstyles using extensions are absolutely possible and look beautiful in maternity photography.
Please note:
Hollywood waves and extension styling require additional time and preparation
An extra $50 hairstyling fee will apply for these looks
Clients must bring their own hair extensions if they would like them to be used during the session
What If I Don’t Like My Makeup or Hairstyling?
Feeling comfortable, beautiful, and truly like yourself during your maternity photoshoot is incredibly important to us.
Pregnancy is such a unique and emotional chapter of life, and these timeless memories deserve to be captured while you are feeling calm, confident, feminine, and fully present in the moment. The whole magic of carrying a new life deserves to be documented in a peaceful and positive state of mind.
Please note:
The photographer is not responsible for makeup or hair performance, even if services were booked through the studio makeup artist.
If your makeup or hairstyling feels significantly different from your expectations, we truly encourage you to speak up before the photoshoot begins. Sometimes small adjustments can easily solve the issue, and sometimes rescheduling may honestly be the better option for your comfort and overall experience.
Yes — we know this may sound a little radical. But maternity photography is deeply connected to emotion, confidence, and energy, and how you feel absolutely translates into the final images.
If a reschedule is necessary due to makeup or hairstyling concerns, a $250 rescheduling fee may apply.
Can Makeup Be Changed During Retouching?
Minor makeup adjustments can be made during post-production, including:
Slight skin tone adjustments
Lip color changes
Small shadow or makeup tone corrections
However, makeup cannot be completely recreated or fully changed in Photoshop.
What Kind of Retouching Do You Provide?
We specialize in high-end editorial and magazine-style beauty retouching.
Our professional retouching includes:
Skin smoothing and skin tone enhancement
Removal of temporary imperfections
Cleanup of visible undergarments or wardrobe distractions
Removal of background distractions such as light stands, hands, backdrop imperfections, etc.

Temporary skin imperfections are removed by default during post-production.
Can I Request More Natural Retouching?
Yes — absolutely.
If you prefer more natural editing or would like to keep details such as:
Belly lines
Stretch marks
Freckles

Please let us know when sending your image selection.
Is Additional Retouching Available?
Yes. Additional retouching requests are available for an extra fee.

Please note that we cannot:
Change body positioning
Add or remove people from images
Completely redesign scenes

Can the Lighting Be Changed After the Shoot?
You will first receive preview images with basic light and color correction, so overall brightness adjustments are possible to a certain extent.
However, lighting style itself cannot be completely changed after the session.
Katrine Moite’s signature photography style includes:
Dramatic backlighting
Low-key editorial lighting
Fine-art silhouettes
Moody artistic shadows
These lighting techniques are intentionally created during the photoshoot itself and are a core part of the artistic style.
For more information about Katrine’s lighting approach, you can read her published article:
Techniques for using backlighting to enhance the expressiveness of photographs.
Is Additional Retouching Charged Separately?
Yes. Additional retouching requests or extra edited images are charged separately according to the pricing structure of your selected package.
Do I Receive RAW Files?
RAW files are included in selected packages, such as our Full and Exclusive collections.
RAW galleries can also be purchased separately for an additional fee of $390.
Please note that under “RAW files,” we provide:
The complete selected gallery
No watermark
Basic color and light correction
RAW files are not fully retouched images.
What Happens After the Photoshoot?
Within approximately 7–10 days after your maternity session, you will receive a private online gallery.
From this gallery, you will select the agreed number of images included in your package for professional retouching.
To select your favorites:
Simply press the heart icon on the images you would like retouched
Once your selection is complete, please notify us via text message, Instagram DM, or WhatsApp (depending on our previous communication method)
Kindly do not send selections by email.
If you select more images than your package includes:
Additional image payment must be completed before post-production begins
Please also notify us once payment has been sent
Professional retouching and final post-production typically take up to 2–3 weeks after your selection is confirmed.
How Can I Select My Photos Faster and More Efficiently?
We strongly recommend selecting your images as soon as possible after receiving your gallery.
Especially during pregnancy, life often becomes much busier after the baby arrives, and finding time for photo selection can become more difficult.
Please note:
Photo selections are accepted only through the online gallery system
Screenshots, image numbers sent by message, or other selection methods are not accepted
Once you finish your selection, simply notify us via text or Instagram DM so we can begin your post-production process.
If your selection exceeds the number of images included in your package, payment for additional images must be completed before retouching begins.
